EBC’s Story
Taylor began working with the special needs community during his freshmen year at Baylor. His best friend in college, Tony (pictured here) had cerebral palsy and was struggling to make it to class due to the distance required to travel in between classes. After driving Tony to class for a few months and bringing food to his dorm, Taylor decided to start a go fund me to raise money to purchase a scooter so that he wouldn’t fail out of school due to absence. The Go Fund Me took off, and Taylor raised over eight times the amount of money required to purchase a scooter. After the scooter was purchased, Taylor used the additional funds to start a non profit at called Baylor Helping Hands that raised money for the families of the special needs community in McLennan County to help cover the cost of equipment after insurance. The organization took off by God’s grace and over 40 families within the community were able to receive the hope and care that they deserved.
Taylor moved to Houston in 2019 and started serving at Houston’s First Baptist Thru The Roof Special needs ministry where he built relationships with several families involved in the ministry. During this time, Taylor felt a calling on his heart to create a space where people with special needs truly felt like they belonged and were not treated differently because of their disabilities. He knew that fitness would be the avenue by which he achieved this to promote not only a healthier lifestyle, but to foster a community of like-minded individuals working towards a common goal together. He envisioned a place where every person could come belong to a community that was actively engaged in bettering themselves, both mentally and physically. In March 2025 Taylor hosted his first EBC workout for two hours on the soccer field of O Athletik in the Heights neighborhood of Houston; eight athletes and at least a dozen volunteers were in attendance. Immediately after the event, the parents and families said they had been looking for something like this for over ten years and wanted to know why we couldn’t have this every Friday. After that first event, Taylor prayed that God would open up a way for this community to not only grow but thrive in His name. Taylor continued to host the workouts once a month, but he knew that EBC had the potential to grow into something beyond what he could imagine. He asked the other members of the executive team to join him in officially launching Everybody Belongs Club in July. In just two months, EBC quadrupled in size with both volunteers and athletes and is continuing to grow with every workout that is hosted.
Everybody Belongs Club was founded on the belief that everyone is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). We know that each and every one of us is loved and valued (1 John 4:16). We believe that we are not defined by how we look or talk, but by what our Creator says about us: that we are His masterpiece, made in His image (Ephesians 2:10, Genesis 1:26). We want to demonstrate the love of Christ by uplifting, guiding, and encouraging athletes to be the best version of themselves.
